Nathan Woyessa, SAIT Trojans, Men's Cross-Country

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Nathan Woyessa achieved a significant milestone by securing his very first ACAC Men's Individual Cross-Country championship.

In the men's competition, SAIT's first-year runner, Nathan Woyessa, faced formidable challenges on the Lethbridge course, which had been cleared of snow but retained its cold and wet conditions. Undeterred by these adverse circumstances, Nathan demonstrated unwavering resilience and determination, ultimately claiming the top spot by completing the demanding 8 km route in an impressive time of 25:53 minutes. Notably, Leonard Chesoo, an ACAC Cross-Country veteran, was just seconds behind Woyessa, emphasizing the competitive nature of the event. Nathan maintained an extraordinary pace of 3:14 per kilometer.

His outstanding performance not only secured him an individual victory but also propelled the SAIT Trojans men's team to qualify for the CCAA Nationals in Truro, Nova Scotia. Nathan's dedication and exceptional talent are evident in this remarkable achievement, which sets the stage for his promising career in cross-country running.

Nathan Woyessa, originally from Calgary, AB, is currently in his first year as a Software Development student.
