ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Meagan Wiebe's performance at the ACAC Championship was nothing short of spectacular, playing a pivotal role in the SAIT Trojans' triumphant journey to victory. Over the course of the weekend, she showcased her exceptional skills, contributing a total of 8 points, which included an impressive trio of goals, one of which secured a thrilling and decisive win.

In the quarterfinal clash against the NAIT Ook, Meagan made her mark by capitalizing on a perfectly executed pass from Miriam Kabonesa, finding the net in the 28th minute. This goal marked the third and final point for the Trojans, propelling them into the semifinals. Her remarkable performance included a total of eight shots, underlining her offensive prowess.

The semifinal match on Friday against the formidable top-seeded north team, the Concordia Thunder, witnessed Meagan's pivotal contributions. With the Thunder leading by one and just thirty minutes to play, she delivered a crucial cross that set up Rachelle O'Leary for a vital goal. In the final minute of the game, Meagan's exceptional speed on a breakaway resulted in the game-winning goal, a defining moment that secured the Trojans' place in the gold medal match. Her performance in the semifinal earned her the well-deserved title of Player of the Game.

In the gold medal showdown for the conference title on Saturday, Meagan wasted no time in making her presence felt. Within the first ten minutes, she received a pass from All-Conference midfielder Nikki Charlton and outran the Huskies' defense to score a crucial goal. In the second half, she provided an excellent assist to Amy Fallows, giving the Trojans the lead. The match eventually went into extra time and then a penalty shootout, where Meagan's leadership and skills played a vital role in securing the 2023 ACAC Women's Soccer Conference championship banner for the Trojans.

Meagan Wiebe's remarkable achievements on the field are mirrored by her dedication to her academic pursuits.
