Ooks Fall to Thunder

On Saturday night, the NAIT Ooks host the Concordia University Thunder at the NAIT Gymnasium.

In the first set, the Thunder took the lead early with great kills from Tanisha Cronin. The Ooks began to close the gap with great hits from Kayla Zazula and Chaljang Both. The Thunder quickly shut the Ooks down after calling a time out to regroup and growing their lead again, which was too much for the Ooks to overcome. The Thunder took the first set 25-18.

In the second set, the Thunder took the lead early, dominating at the net, and the Ooks' self-inflicted errors started to pile up. In the hopes of regrouping and shifting their momentum, the Ooks called a time-out. The Ooks offense was gaining control with a great hit from Jessica Zilinski. The Ooks were unable to close the gap, and the Thunder won the set 25-20 and led 2-0 after two.

In the third set, Ooks took the lead early with fantastic offensive plays and defensive blocks from Mattea Calihoo and Jessica Zilinski. However, it wasn't long before the Thunder regained control, tying it up with killer hits from Tanisha Cronin and Jolene Cooke. The Ooks struggled to maintain any momentum they had generated, but it didn't stop them from holding onto the lead with amazing defensive plays by Kate Krogen. The Thunder were hanging in there before eventually taking the lead. The Thunder won the third set 25-23, winning the match 3-0 over the Ooks.

Player of the Game for the Ooks was number thirteen, Jessica Zilinski, and for the Thunder, number eleven Naydine Schellenburg.
