WVB| Lakeland Rustlers Sweep Kodiaks Pushing Losing Streak to 3 Straight

January 14, 2023- The Kodiaks looked to bounce back after dropping last night's game and upset the north division leading Lakeland Rustlers in the 2nd half of the Kodiaks weekend doubleheader

The Rustlers got right into the match putting the heat on the Kodiaks and gaining momentum early to give Lakeland are strong lead that they would hold onto throughout the set with the Kodiaks trying to find a way to catch up. Lakeland kept pushing back and stayed strong on defense to hold off the Kodiaks to take the 1st set 25-21.

The Kodiaks gave Lakeland a run for their money in the 2nd set as the Kodiaks were clutch both on offense and defense to prevent the Rustlers from running away with the set. The Kodiaks picked up 3 aces in the set which would boost them to have the lead of Lakeland but would eventually fall back behind dropping the 2nd set to the Rustlers with a tight 25-20 finish despite a strong finish from both teams.

The Rustlers had no issues dominating on offense as right from the 1st serve Lakeland had mostly taken control of the set, the Kodiaks were caught flat-footed and struggled to catch up leaving the Rustlers with a strong lead by #4 Jenay Varga who had 3 kills in the 3rd set to propel Lakeland across the finish line taking the 3-0 sweep over the Kodiaks closing the set 25-16.
