Clippers’ defense conquers Thunder’s strong attacks

EDMONTON, AB (November 4th, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the Briercrest Clippers for a Friday night match. Overall this game was won on defense, Clippers' ability to recover from Thunder's attacks and launch counters was enough to win the game with a 3-0 sweep.

The first set saw several soft touches from both sides, not too many spikes, the lead changed 5 times with a number of ties although the Clippers took the first set 26-24. The second set started off similarly to the first with it being evenly matched, although the Clippers found weaknesses in the Thunder's game to exploit and found themselves in the second set 25-15. The third set was found in the Clipper's favour once again, through the last two sets the biggest lead for the Thunder was two, but the biggest lead for the Clippers was 11. Multiple times through the Thunder brought the lead down to two or three, ultimately the Clippers go on a run to end the set and the game: 25-17.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #17 Brynn Hardy for the Clippers and #2 Renae Regal with 12 defensive points from the Thunder. We return home tomorrow afternoon against the Medicine Hat Rattlers.
