Queens Defeat Clipper 3-1 in Electric Season Opener

The atmosphere in The Hangar was electric tonight as the Briercrest Clippers faced off against the Red Deer Queens for their home-opening matches. Fans cheered on as a nail-biting game of volleyball was played, resulting in the Red Deer Queens taking home their victory with a final score of 3-1.

While the Queens took home the victory they did not take home the first set. The Clippers played hard point after point until they finished the set with a score of 25-23. As the second set opened the Queens took the lead quickly. While the Clippers fought hard to recover their lost ground the set ended with a score of 19-25.

After half-time, both teams returned to fight it out for their first regular season victory. The Clippers pushed hard against the Queens' strong hits finishing the set and closing the points gap but not surpassing the Queens for a score of 22-25. The final set of the game was close, with the fans going wild as the point lead passed from team to team. In the end, the set ended with a score of 23-25 for the Queens.

ACAC Clippers players of the game Jess Zacharias and Dani Wiens were swarmed by their teams after the awards presentation as they celebrated the end of their first match. The Briercrest Clippers and Red Deer Queens will face off in The Hangar tomorrow at 1 PM.
