Briercrest Clippers take second game 3-0 over Broncos

Olds, AB

The Briercrest College Clippers Women's Volleyball won 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-17) to the Olds College Broncos on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the Ralph Klein Centre.

The first set saw some great rallies with both teams working hard to defend the net. Service errors on both sides allowed both teams to gain points in a back and forth exchange. Kelsey Wiebe from the Clippers played great defense not allowing much to cross the tape for the Broncos. The Clippers took an early lead being up by 5 points but the Broncos fought back. Samantha Laboucan and Averi Gill match up nicely at the net for the Broncos blocking the Clippers attempts to get through. The Clippers edged out the Broncos and took the set 25-18.

The second set was fast and furious for both teams. The Clippers were calm and forceful with the ball to start and took an early lead. While the Broncos came into this set not as settled as normal and struggled to keep control of the ball. There were a few rallies with some scrappy play on the Broncos part as they did everything they could to keep the rally going. The Clippers took this set 25-13.

This third set was similar to the first set where the Broncos were much composed and played as a team both offensively and defensively. The Clippers were able to play stronger offensively and won this set 25-17.

The player of the game for the Briercrest Clippers  was number 16, Kelsey Wiebe and the Olds College Broncos player of the game was number 8, Sam Laboucan. Stay tuned to gobroncos.ca for more details on where you can find Broncos Women's Volleyball next as we head into playoffs.
