Trojans battle, but fall to Red Deer Polytechnic

CALGARY, ALTA., (Feb. 3, 2022) - The SAIT Trojans women's volleyball team will spend the remainder of their Thursday night wondering what if.

The Trojans battled hard, but came up short against the visiting Red Deer Polytechnic Queens, falling 3-1 (29-27, 25-16, 23-25, 25-22) in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) matchup played inside SAIT's Campus Centre.

SAIT falls to 4-8 on the season, while the Queens stay perfect at 13-0.

In the opening set, the Trojans and Queens both battled hard and went to extra points, but it was the visitors who came out on top.

The loss deflated SAIT, as they went on to lose the second set 25-16 in quick fashion.

Down 2-0, the Trojans fought hard all set long to extend the match and do so with momentum on their side.

In the final set, SAIT got out to a slow start, but were able to string enough points together to fight back and take the lead. Up 21-16, SAIT could only watch as Red Deer scored eight straight points to take back the lead for good.

SAIT's Aurora Bentrim and Red Deer's Kaylee Domoney were named Players of the Game.
