Ooks Fall Short to Thunder

The NAIT Ooks women's volleyball team took on the Concordia Thunder at home on Saturday evening. On Friday night at Concordia, the two teams faced off where the NAIT Ooks took home their first win of the season. It was a close game but unfortunately the Ooks fell short losing 3-2.

The game started strong, with both teams rallying back and forth. It was a close set, but the Thunder started to pull ahead. The Ooks came back to keep to close the gap, but ultimately the Thunder took the first set 25-21.

Concordia outside Kara McIntyre is second in the league for both digs per set and digs, and she didn't disappoint tonight. She added three more to her name after two sets helping her team keep their lead. The Ooks fought hard to keep themselves in the game, but they lost the second set 25-16.

The Concordia Thunder was up 2-0.

The NAIT Ooks started strong in the third setting, hoping to change the momentum of the game. They were up 7-4 early, and the Thunder took a timeout to give themselves some time to regroup. Even after the regroup, the Ooks still kept hitting it home. They lead for the entirety of the third set, winning 25-20.

The score was 2-1 after three sets.

The fourth set was intense, as both teams were warmed up and ready to go. The Thunder struck first after trailing in the third. It was a close fourth set. Both teams traded taking the lead, but the gap was never more than a point for most of the set. The Ooks managed to pull ahead near the end to win 25-20.

The score was 2-2 after four.

The fifth and final set of the game was a nail-biter as both teams kept it close. In the end the Thunder won the fifth set 15-10.

The players of the game were #5 Karly Burkinshaw from the Ooks and #2 Renae Regal from the Thunder.
