Kodiaks Sweep weekend series over Rattlers

Heading east to the border, the Lethbridge Kodiaks blew into Medicine Hat to Take on the Rattlers. Opening the season at their temporary home, the Rattlers looked to answer to the 3-1 loss from the Kodiaks the night before, the teams opened the set with the Kodiaks able to open up an early 3 point lead, up 9-6. The Rattlers were able to chip away slowly, regaining the momentum and tying the set at 15. Another point on a long rally saw them take their first lead of the day. They continued to hold this momentum, going up 20-18 as the set reached the end. 3 unforced errors from the Rattlers as they watched an attainable first set slip away as they lost 26-24

 

The second set started right off where the first ended. Another quick lead from the Kodiaks saw them playing in front for the first part of the set. As the teams neared 10, the Rattlers started to narrow the lead. This was short lived as unforced errors saw the home side go down 5 before finally responding. They were able to respond quickly, narrowing the deficit to 2 down 13-15. After leaving 2 serves to fall, the Rattlers once again were down 5 and losing time to close the gap in the second set. The Kodiaks continued to cruise through the end of the set handily taking the second set 25-21

 

The start of the third saw the Kodiaks once again take a quick lead going up 9-5. They quickly added another forcing the Rattlers to take an early timeout in an effort to stem the Kodiak onslaught. The Kodiaks continued to feast, adding to their lead out of the break. Now 15-5 the Lethbridge squad was in full control of the match. The Rattlers finally responded with a point but the damage had been done. Only needing to cruise out the set, the Kodiaks were able to maintain their lead as their score reached the Precipice. The Kodiaks were able to complete the weekend sweep with a 25-16 3 sets win.
