Keyano Huskies   1   Lakeland College Rustler  3  12-25, 14-25, 25-22, 13-25

Last time the Lakeland Rustlers was were lower or even to their present record of one match won, three matches lost to start the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference women's volleyball regular season...was....well...it was way back in 2008-2009.

This is a team that has been to ACAC post season play more times than you have fingers and thumbs plus a few toes.

Last time the Keyano Huskies beat the Rustlers in a match was November 28, 2009 by a score of 22-25,19-25,25-20, 25-21,14-16 on our home court.

Can they repeat after a  10-year lull.

Set 1

Keyano 12   Lakeland 25

The Lakeland legacy continues to haunt the Huskies as the visitors jump out 14-8 with Huskies coach Kira Sutcliffe calling timeout.

Sutcliffe starts subbing off various starters to no avail as several Huskies net violations give the Rustlers a comfortable set one victory.  Huskies finding it hard to connect on set- and- spike combos.

Set 2

Keyano 14  Lakeland  25

The play is in favour of the Rustlers... even the net roll plays drop their way.  Huskies timeout down 12-23. One bright spot for the home team is back-to-back defensive dives by rookie libero Ainsley Wolstenholme (1st. Nursing, Grande Prairie, Alberta)

Set 3

Keyano 25 Lakeland 22

Service aces by Huskies' Marlo Rathmann (2nd year, Social Work, Seba Beach, Alberta) and Jersey Switzer (1st year, Business Admin, Grande Prairie Alberta) give the white-and- blue a 5-2 and 7-4 advantage.

Rathmann scores first BANGO 11-8 and Rustlers call timeout down 13-8. Jamie Ferns (2nd year, Nursing, Fort McMurray Alberta) scores a BANGO at 15-9. Huskies win an incredible rally to go up 17-10. Huskies suffer a bit of a scare with Rustlers' Jenay Varga steady serves bringing her team close, down 24-21 with Huskies taking a timeout to regroup. Huskies setter Mackenzie Stokes (3rd year, Social Work, Fort McMurray, Alberta) catches the Rustlers off guard a few times with a second hit dump.

Set 4

Keyano 13 Lakeland 25

Huskies down 6-10 call a timeout.  Huskies whistled for a few net touches while blocking.  Huskies call their second timeout with the Rustlers leading at 18-10. Huskies Switzer calls for a sub as it looks as if she injured or tweaked her left ankle.

Huskies' Home Hardware/Boston Pizza Player of the Game is Raisa Stokes (2nd year, Education, Fort McMurray, Alberta) and for the Rustlers Jana Laing.
