Vikings win, ending the Lakeland Rustlers winning streak

Camrose, AB - The Augustana Vikings took on the Lakeland Rustlers in their second game back from Christmas break. The Augustana Vikings won the game, ending the Rustlers undefeated streak, minus one game. The scores were 25-23, 13-25, 25-21, 25-23.

The first set ended with the same score as the first set from their previous game, yet this time the Vikings had 25 points while the Rustlers had 23 points.

The second set the Rustlers took the lead and won with 25 points while the Vikings were only able to score 13 points.

However, during the third set the Vikings regained their strength and were taking the lead, and the crowd's enthusiasm was palpable. The Vikings won 25-21. At this point the game was looking to their favour again.

The fourth set was a close match with both teams not far from each other. The crowd and teams erupted in an uproar over each point scored by both teams. The Vikings won a close 25-23 set. This won them the game, and showed their mettle against the Rustlers, who have previously only lost one game this season.

From the Lakeland Rustlers, Avery Maginel, number 8 was awarded the player of the game with 5 kills and 5 digs. From the Augustana Vikings, Lauren VanDyke, number 14, was awarded the player of the game with 9 kills, 2 digs and 1 block.
