WVB | Kodiaks fall to Rattlers in heated battle

Nov. 10th- The Kodiaks were back in action in Kodiaks Country as they faced off against the rival Medicine Hat Rattlers.

The Kodiaks started out the match by showing off new talent, with a starting line-up of primarily first year athletes who came ready to impress. The new faces on the proved to be strong at the net, powering down some impressive shots. While the Kodiaks had a strong performance, the Rattlers skills didn't disappoint as they were prepared for what the Kodiaks were sending their way and claimed a 25-15 first set victory.

Not ready to back down, the Kodiaks started out the second set with a new-found intensity led by second year setter Jamie Brown who not only demonstrated her ability to place the ball, but also her strength as a hitter. Kodiaks Grace Kazanowsi also took the chance to solidify her role in the team, bringing a dominant presence to the net. The Rattlers battled throughout the entire set, stealing a small late-in-the-set lead to overcome the Kodiaks 25-21.

The Rattlers entered the third set with a determination to stop the Kodiaks from continuing to find their stride and build momentum. Rattlers Brook Christie demonstrated her abilities as a well-rounded player by dominating at the net while also providing the team with a defensive edge. Getting under the Kodiaks skin, the Rattlers managed to pull ahead midway through the set to clinch a 25-16 set victory and clinch the game 3-0.
