Control in the neutral zone and key plays lead Thunder to a 4-0 sweep

EDMONTON, AB (October 16th 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder took on the Kings' Eagles to finish off the weekend.

Today's match was an intense and physical game but it remained quite clean. #10 Breanna Callander put Thunder on the board early making it 1-0. Concordia dominated the possession battle throughout, clean passing and tons of possessions for their side that led to a plethora of shots. Callander was an absolute threat this weekend and took the second goal at the 67th minute pushing Thunder 2-0. The Eagles made several strong pushes towards the end of the second half. But Concordia's goalie held strong and came up with a clean sheet. #11 Brooke Lesoway moves to make it 3-0 at the 74th and #4 Vanessa Pietramala closes the game with a goal at the 80th minute, also contributing multiple assists throughout. Concordia managed the 4-0 win, but the game did feel closer at times with King's college continuously contesting everything the Thunder were able to start.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #13 Hannah Clarke for the Eagles and #4 Vanessa Pietramala from your Concordia Thunder. The next home game for the Thunder is next Saturday, October 22nd as we close out the regular season.
