Huskies complete sweep of Rustlers

Despite a strong start to the second contest of the weekend, the Lakeland Rustlers were on the wrong end of another blowout loss.

The top ranked Keyano Huskies picked up where they left off on Saturday, scoring three goals in the first half. Lakeland had chances as well, but were unable to capitalize in the early minutes.

In the second, Keyano kept offensive pressure on the home side, springing Felicia Rodney for three goals, adding to her goal and assist from late in the first half. Shallon French got the start this time for the Rustlers.

Lakeland Coach Wendy Wagner said the weekend is an important lesson for the team.

"It's a maturity piece and learning curve. We had a couple of key chances, but couldn't equalize. When Keyano had chances, they executed. But [many] of their key players have more experience."

Annika Brown and Kendra Metz were the POG's for Lakeland and Keyano respectively.

Following the loss, the Rustlers will need to win out and rely on NWP losses to have a shot at the postseason. The Huskies sit three points ahead of Concordia for first in the North Division.
