CALGARY, ALTA., (Sep. 18, 2022) – The SAIT Trojans women's soccer team was able to continue their perfect start to the season with a 2-0 win over the Lethbridge Kodiaks on Sunday afternoon.
After some back and forth play in the early going, Harleen Singh (3rd year, Business Administration) was able to break the score at the 14-minute mark with a missile shot from long range that sailed past Kodiaks goalkeeper Jordan Quinn.
Later in the half, the Trojans caught some bad luck as they looked to extend the lead to two, as shots from Kerigan Frampton (2nd year, Open Studies) and Amy Fallows (1st year, Hospitality and Tourism management) struck the post and crossbar seconds apart. They failed to generate many more scoring chances for the remainder of the half, but didn't have to as Jenae Worobets (2nd year, Open Studies) turned aside every shot she faced.
The Trojans were able to extend their lead early in the second half thanks to a well-placed shot on a penalty kick by Emma Ward (2nd year, Pharmacy Assistant). From there on, they controlled possession in a big way, as the Kodiaks were unable to get much of anything going aside from a late breakaway opportunity by Montannna Rousselle that Worobets was able to steer aside.
With the 2-0 win, the Trojans were able to improve their record to 4-0 on the year, and will look to keep the good times rolling in a week's time when they welcome the Ambrose Lions to town.
