WSC| Kodiaks Set the Tone for the Season in Huge Blowout Win vs MHC Rattlers

The Women's looked to set the tone for the season as they face-off against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers in the home opener of the 2022 season.

The Kodiaks came flying out the gate applying lots of pressure on the visiting MHC Rattlers keeping the majority of play in the offensive zone leading to the Kodiaks 1st goal of the game coming off a corner kick from Kodiaks #15 Jayna Timinski at the 7-minute mark of the opening half.

In the 2nd part of the 1st half, the Rattlers looked to turn the match around maintaining offensive pressure in the Kodiak's zone collecting a couple of free kick opportunities which MHC failed to succeed which quickly turned into the ball heading the opposite way down the pitch resulting in a Rattlers own goal to give the Kodiaks the 2-0 lead only to increase their lead once again only moments later after Kodiaks #5 Ashley Sazalski displayed some impressive footwork to blow by the Rattlers goaltender to send the ball into the opening net to put the Kodiaks up 3-0.

In the closing minutes of the 1st half, Kodiaks Captain Olivia Depasquale dekes out the Rattlers defender to set up a beautiful pass to Ashley Sazalski who buries it to increase the Kodiaks lead to 4-0, followed by Megan Morrison moments later to make the lead 5-0 Kodiaks.

The Kodiaks blew through the Rattlers in the 1st half, leaving the Rattlers looking for something to change in the 2nd half as they search to make something out of nothing being down 5-0 at the half to Kodiaks.

The Kodiaks wasted no time in the 2nd half to continue running up the scoreboard as Kodiaks Megan Morrison collected her 2nd of the game which was soon followed up by Nikki Stahl who headed the ball right into the back of the net off a corner kick from Kodiaks Depasquale to make the Kodiaks crushing lead 7-0. The 2nd half of the final frame of the match was all Kodiaks, Lethbridge continued to keep their foot on the throttle keeping play in the offensive zone leaving MHC scrambling around trying to get something going, but the Kodiaks held their ground holding the Rattlers back as the game closes out with one final goal from Kodiaks Amanda Sequeira and a crushing lead for the Kodiaks to take the home opener 8-0
