Wiebe nets three as SAIT moves to 2-0

CALGARY, AB (Sept. 26, 2021) - A five-goal second half cemented the second win of the season for the SAIT Trojans women's soccer team.

Striker Meaghan Wiebe scored three times, as her Trojans defeated the visiting University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings 7-1 in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) action played on a beautiful fall day at SAIT's Cohos Commons Field.

Wiebe scored her first of the game in the opening half to help her team to a 2-0 lead after 45 minutes of play. She added goals two and three after the break - the final one coming on a penalty kick in the 90th minute. Sunday's hat trick gives Wiebe five goals on the season.

Harleen Singh added a pair of goals of her own, which made it two straight games with a pair of markers for the Trojans forward. She also achieved the feat in the team's season-opening 10-0 win over the Ambrose University Lions on Sept. 18.

Jordynn McPherson and Kerigan Frampton also added goals for SAIT.

Ronan Corry scored the lone Vikings goal of the game, spoiling the Trojans bid for a second consecutive shutout.

Wiebe was named SAIT's Player of the Game while Lara Birkhill took the honour for the Vikings.
