SAIT Beats Lions on Ambrose Senior Night

In the final regular season home game for the Ambrose lions they took on their hometown rival SAIT in a sunny afternoon game. Goalkeeper Janelle Reimer, Goalkeeper Karina Kurtzweg, and Midfielder Bethany Herman all played in their final ACAC home game.  Unfortunately for them, they were not able to end with a win at home. After a back and forth first 20 minutes, where both teams had multiple chances to score, SAIT was able to score first in the 20th minute. Jade Metz scored her first of the game as she was able to get around the defense and past goalkeeper Janelle Reimer who came out to challenge Metz on the play. SAIT had a great chance to be able to score their second goal of the game only 2 minutes after Metz first put the Trojans up one.  A handball in the box from an Ambrose defender resulted in a penalty kick for Trojan Amber Meyers.  Her shot went high and at that moment provided an opportunity for the Lions to get back into the game. Shortly after, however, Skye Gordon put the Trojans up by 2 thanks to an assist from Jamie McPherson. Gordon, from the 40 yard line, was able to elevate the ball up and over a leaping Reimer.  After half time, Metz and Mackenzie Georgsen each added to the Trojans lead which resulted in a 4-0 final score.  Jamie McPherson was awarded the player of the game for the SAIT Trojans thanks to her two assists, while Meg Buchanan was awarded the player of the game for Ambrose for her strong play in the midfield.
