Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women's Soccer

Keyano College Huskies  1   Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder 2

In the 17 seasons leading up to the 2019-2020 ACAC women's soccer regular season, the Keyano Huskies had won only seven regular season games while accumulating 63 goals for (0.344 average) and 737 goals against (4.02 average) in 183 matches.

Heading into their fifth-and-sixth match of the season, the Huskies have already recorded 2 wins and 2 losses while amassing 23 goals for (5.75 average) and only four against (1.00 average).

Talk about reversal of fortune.

Mind you, all 23 goals came against the first-year Portage Voyageurs women's soccer program last weekend, in a split home-and-away series with 12-0 and 11-0 totals.

Kicking off against the Thunder would be a different matter as  the Edmonton school came into this afternoon's contest with a record of two wins and a loss with 12 goals for and 6 against.

Thunder would score first at 3:25 with a Breanna Callander (2nd year, Bachelor of Arts, Edmonton, Alberta) lob over Keyano Huskies goalie Bridie Harding (1st year, Elementary Education, Crewe, United Kingdom) from 12 yards out.

Harding makes a great save at 41:00 off of a Thunder corner kick...the visiting team goes into the locker room up 1-0 at the end of the first half.

At the 64:30 mark Huskies' goalie Harding, after making two quick saves, booted the ball 60 plus yards with teammate Skylar Robertson (1st year, Nursing, Lac La Biche, Alberta) controlling the high bounce and putting it past Thunder goalie Monica Dickson (2nd year, Bachelor of Arts, Edmonton, Alberta) to tie the game 1-1.

At 81:30 Concordia takes the lead 2-1 as Elizabeth Crothers (2nd year, Bachelor of Arts, Calgary, Alberta) curls the ball to the right of Harding to break mesh.

The Home Hardware & Boston Pizza Player of the Game for the Huskies was No. 10 Isabela Bustos-Chaba. Thunder POG honours went to No. 2 Elizabeth Crothers.
