Shorthanded Lions lose to Rattlers

Ambrose Women took on Medicine Hat in their second regular season game of the year.  In what turned out to be a very physical game, this game had an unusual start as due to unforeseen circumstances, as Ambrose was forced to start the game a lady short.  Even with playing with one less player, Ambrose took control of the momentum early on.  Both teams traded chances off the crossbar within the first 15 minutes.  In the 15th minute, Captain Bethany Herman, landed on her own goalie attempting to defend a cross sent into the box by the Rattlers.  Karina was forced to leave the game due to injury and Janelle Reimer can on in relieve.  Karina would later enter the game as a forward allowing her team to get back to 11 players.  In the 29th minute, Maisa Rebello scored a goal on a second chance opportunity after Reimer made the first save.   Grace Porter would join Maisa in scoring goals this evening as she tallied 3 herself.  Reimer played an aggressive game, coming out of the net to minimize the Rattlers opportunities however Porter figured her style out early and scored multiple goals by using a second touch to get around the charging goalie.  In the end, the Rattlers took advantage of their opportunities as the Lions continued to get more aggressive as the game went on and their defensive unit continued to press up the field, leaving space for Porter and the rest of the Rattlers to maneuver.  Grace Porter and Karina Kurtzweg would be awarded Player of the Game honors after the game.
