Lethbridge outlasts Ambrose

Lethbridge game to town this afternoon to take on the Lions in what is their 3rd ever matchup in the ACAC after Ambrose joined the league last year.  The experience of the Kodiaks showed tonight as just when the momentum looked to be changing shortly after halftime, they took advantage of the opportunities they got extending their lead and eliminating any chance for a comeback.   In the 3rd minute Hailie Shoults and eventual Player of the Game, Olivia Despasquale connected on a terrificic give a go passing play to allow Despasquale the time to get a strike off.  She scored with a shot up in the top left corner past the diving Goalkeeper.  Shortly after (22nd minute) Jankowiak added her first of two goals she would score, as she tapped in an available rebound.   In the 62nd, Olivia Awe would score Ambrose's first goal of the season.  Her opportunity came off a free kick by Bethany Herman who sent the ball across into the box.  After going off of the goalkeepers hands, Awe would slide the ball into the net from right inside of the goalies crease.  Lethbridge turned up the pressure after giving the advantage back to Ambrose after the goal and tailed 3 more in the final 15 minutes to put the game out of reach.  Kaitlin Maehara would be awarded Player of the Game recognition for her outstanding midfield play.
