WSOC | Kodiaks and Queen battle to a tie

October 20, 2018 – The Lethbridge College Kodiaks played host to the Red Deer College Queens  for their final Saturday match of the regular season.

The two teams proved to be worthy opponents with a scoreless first half and a 5-4 shot count in the Queens's favor. While neither team was able to put one away, there was plenty of back-and-forth action as the teams looked for an opening that didn't present itself.

The Kodiaks came out strong in the second half but the Queens were ready for them, matching their momentum. While there was plenty of opportunities, neither team was able to break open the game and score their first goal due to strong defensive showings.

The final 10 minutes proved to be the most action packed moments of the game, with a break away for Kodiaks Vicki Noronha, who was ultimately unable to get passed the Queens goal keeper. Following quickly behind her, Hayley Nassichuk- Dean broke free from the pack and had a powerful shot at the Kodiaks net, which was blocked by Brittany Klein.

With this tie the Kodiaks record changes to 5-4-2  while the Queens move to 7-2-2. The Kodiaks are back in action for their final game of the regular season at home tomorrow against the Lakeland Rustlers, while the Queens travel to Medicine Hat to take on the Rattlers.
