Rustlers defeat Broncos 2-1

The Lakeland Rustlers defeated the Olds College Broncos 2-1 Saturday afternoon in Lloydminster.

The Rustlers took control of the ball early on and looked to take control of the game.  The Rustlers opened the scoring with a goal by Nikki Boutin in the 18th minute to give them the early lead.  Both teams had chances to score in the remainder of the half, but it wasn't until the 45th minute when Ashley Miller would find the back of the net to give the Rustlers the 2-0 lead.

The switching of directions in the second half gave the Broncos the advantage of having the wind as they controlled the ball for much of the second half.  The Broncos cut the Rustlers lead to one on a goal by Jayna Espie-Sanderso in the 56th minute.  Both teams had scoring opportunities as the game went on, but neither were able to score, giving Lakeland the 2-1 win.

Player of the Game for the Rustlers was #1, Keira Sunderland.  Player of the Game for the Broncos was #8, Kathleen Andres.
