Camrose, AB - The Augustana Vikings were finally able to play soccer in nice weather against the GPRC Wolves. The Wolves greatly excelled as a team leading 5-0 after the first half and ending the games with a total of 11 against the Vikings. The Vikings, who played their best with a small bench of nine players, were unable to attain a goal.
Danje Predickson set up Sydney Kelly, and not long after Alex Verhun, to put the Wolves up by two early in the game. Sydney Kelly struck again, putting the Wolves up by three. Predickson went to work once more and assisted Madi Gillespie to find the back of the net, grabbing her third assist of the game. Madi Gillespie was on a roll as she fired in two more, giving her a hat trick only one minute into the second half. Michelle Brodeur scored the sixth goal having switched from goaltender to player at half time. Gillespie chipped in another one, totalling her own goal count to four and the teams overall lead to 8-0. Sydney Embleton and Calandra Bychyk added two more before Kelly also picked up a hat trick. This gave the Wolves a total win of 11-0 over the Vikings. Alex Verhun received the Player of the Game Award for the Grand Prairie Wolves.
Despite lacking in numbers, the Viking women kept their heads up and finished the game strong. Cassidy Newcombe, a second year psychology student braved 21 shots on goal. The Player of the Game Award went to dual-sport athlete, Cari Kilmartin.
