NAIT Ooks Top Thunder In Tuesday Nighter

EDMONTON, ALTA.- Akatsu's 25th-minute goal would prove to be the decider as the NAIT Ooks defeated the Concordia Thunder 2-1 in a rare Tuesday Night showdown at Clarke Field.

Kaily Mohn scored 25 seconds into the game to give the Ooks an early 1-0 lead. Yuri Akatsu followed up with a goal of her own in the 25th minute to put NAIT up 2-0 heading into halftime.

The second half was very tight until Rebecca Leavell scored in the 84th minute to bring the Thunder to with one of the Ooks. However, it would be too little too late as NAIT would hold on for the 2-1 victory.

Kaily Mohn now has a league-leading 11 goals in the first four games of the season. She also leads the ACAC with 25 points. With Leavell's lone goal tonight she moved into a 3-way tie for second in the goal category.

With tonight's win NAIT now has a 4-0 record and leads the ACAC North Division, they will look to continue their success as they travel to Camrose this Saturday to take on the Augustana Vikings. The Concordia Thunder will play host to the King's Eagles on Saturday.
