The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) South-Division leading SAIT Trojans women's soccer team defeated the second place Olds College Broncos 5-0 on Sunday afternoon at SAIT's Cohos Commons Field.
Mataya Blakney opened the scoring 26 minutes into the first half off an assist from Maddie Lee. It would be the lone goal scored in the opening 45 minutes of play.
"We made a couple of adjustments at half, but the focus was more of a possession game so it was good to see that flow," said Trojans head coach, John Talerico. "In the second half we got into the gear we should be in to really put it away."
Just after the break, Maddie Lee continued her impressive season, scoring her ninth goal in five games to put the home team up 2-0.
Soon after, Skye Gordon scored on a penalty shot to increase their lead to 3-0. Blakney scored her second of the game after a nice assist from Autumn Schneider to make it 4-0.
The final goal of the game was by Sage Meyers assisted by Harleen Singh.
SAIT moves to 5-0 with the victory, while Olds College falls 3-2-1.
Goalkeeper Amy Offredi was named the Player of the Game for the Trojans, while Kathleen Andres earned the Player of the Game honour for the Broncos.
