Ambrose defeats Lakeland 2-1

The Ambrose Lions defeated the Lakeland Rustlers 2-1 in Women's Soccer action Sunday afternoon.

Both teams struggled to get a good shot on goal early on. Midway through the first half, Lakeland had a chance to take the lead, but the shot was off the crossbar. Ambrose would open the scoring in the 34th minute with a goal by Bethany Herman. Neither team scored in the final ten minutes of the half, giving Ambrose the 1-0 heading into the second. 

Both teams had scoring chances early on in the second half, but neither could capitalize. It wasn't until the 76th minute when the Rustlers were able to tie the score at 1 with a goal by Emma Laing. In the final 15 minutes, both teams had chances to regain the lead. Ambrose took a 2-1 lead in the 87th minute on a goal by Kara Friesen. The Rustlers had a chance to tie in extra time, but Ambrose hung on for the 2-1 win.

Player of the Game for the Rustlers was #2 Emma Laing. Player of the Game for Ambrose was #13 Bethany Herman.
