Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves off to final after 1-0 win over SAIT

OLDS- Ashtyn Haycock proved to be the hero on Saturday afternoon in Olds, scoring the lone goal in a mostly one sided contest as the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves prevail over the SAIT Trojans.

Haycock's game winner, which came in the 68th minute of the contest, is her first of the 2017 ACAC Women's Soccer Championship, and couldn't have come at a more important time.

Dominating for most of the game with nothing to show for it, Haycock took advantage of the Trojan's sloppy play in their own end. Haycock managed to free her left foot from defenders and knocked a roller towards All-Conference keeper Amy Offredi.

Offredi, perhaps losing the ball momentarily in the sea of red around Haycock, never got the jump she needed to make a play on the ball, as it one-hopped into the back of the goal.

Haycock was the best forward on the field during the contest, registering a game-high three shots on goal.

With the loss, the Trojans will compete for a bronze medal on Sunday afternoon, facing off against the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder a 12 P.M.

Meanwhile Grande Prairie will face the NAIT Ooks for the Championship Banner on Sunday at 2 P.M.

While The two northern division teams match-up well, splitting the season series with one win each, the Ooks have championship experience on their side, looking for their fourth straight ACAC title.
