Trojans fall in season finale

CALGARY, ALTA., (Feb. 26, 2023) - A tough season came to a close for the SAIT Trojans women's hockey team.

Playing in their final Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game of the season, the host Trojans fell 9-3 to the visiting Lakeland College Rustlers in Sunday afternoon action played at Winsport Arena.

SAIT finishes the year with a 4-15 record, but ended on a high note, winning two of their final three games of the year.

Lakeland, who impressed many in their first year in the ACAC, improved to 9-8.

Leading the way Sunday for the Rustlers was Hailey Carouthers, who scored four times in the win to extend her league-leading total to 15.

Also scoring for Lakeland was Olivia Mann, Ava Cole, Janay Williams (2) and Ellie Baril.

Elisa Erhardt, Asha Kailey and Kiara Stewart replied for the Trojans. Erhardt, who did not score previous to this weekend finished with four goals in her last three games.

Player of the Game honours went to Carouthers and to SAIT's Rebecca Boswell and Reauna Blight, who were honoured before the game as graduating seniors.
