Trojans blanked by Queens

CALGARY, ALTA., (Feb. 18, 2023) - Goal scoring woes continue to plague the SAIT Trojans women's hockey team.

The Trojans were shutout at home today, falling 4-0 to the visiting Red Deer Polytechnic Queens in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) contest played Saturday afternoon at Winsport Arena.

SAIT falls to 2-15 while Red Deer jumped to 12-4.

The Trojans have managed just three goals in six games this month, but have kept games close with quality performances by their three goaltenders.

Saturday was Kaylin Schellenberg's turn, as she denied 48 of 52 shots fired her way by the Queens. On the other end of the ice, Red Deer's Izzy Palumbo was considerably less busy, stopping 18 of 18 shots put on net by the Trojans.

Scoring for the Queens was Brenna Reid, Molly Flynn, Madison Sansom and Arilyn Toews.

Schellenberg and Flynn were named Players of the Game.
