Trojans fall to Queens in OT

CALGARY, ALTA., (Nov. 29, 2019) - The SAIT Trojans women's hockey team need to see the puck go in the net.

The Trojans lost 2-1 in overtime to the Red Deer College Queens Friday night in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game played at SAIT Arena. Dating back to Nov. 9, SAIT has scored just three times in their last four games.

"We just need someone to have a big game and pot a few goals for us," said Trojans head coach Tom Molloy. "Tonight we had our chances, but we couldn't finish. You have to hand it to the goaltenders, as it was their night tonight."

SAIT falls to 1-10 on the season with their final game of the first semester coming Saturday night in Red Deer at 7pm.

"It would be really nice to get a win," Molloy admitted. 'We've really only had our full team since the start of November, so it would be nice to end the semester on a good note. . . We just have to get some goals to do that."

Brittany MacDonald (3rd year, Calgary, Medical Radiologic Technology) scored SAIT's lone goal just two minutes into the second period.

The Queens followed up with markers by Sydney Rowley in the second, and Ashley Sutherland in overtime to earn the victory.

SAIT goalie Kaylin Schellenberg (2nd year, Airdrie, Alta., Business Administration) had a strong game, stopping 28 of 30 shots fired her way.

Queens goalie Karlee Fetch was a touch better, turning aside 27 of 28 shots.
