Ooks Defeat Queens 4-1

EDMONTON, ALTA. - Megan Leblanc scored twice as the NAIT Ooks defeated the RDC Queens 4-1 Friday night in the NAIT Arena.

The first period started evenly matched until the 13:31 mark when Megan Leblanc beat her former teammate and Queens' goaltender, Karlee Fetch. Leblanc would score once again five minutes later to give her team a 2-0 lead after twenty minutes of play.

Queens' Mairead Bast would open up the scoring in the second 6:48 into the frame on the power play, to cut the NAIT lead to one. That would be all the offense that Red Deer could muster up, as the Ooks would score two more (Wing & Kuzelova) before the final buzzer taking the game 4-1.

Megan Lebanc's two-goal performance would earn her Player of the Game honours for the Ooks, while Jessi-Lynn Sumaling would take the honours for the Queens.

The two teams will now rematch tomorrow night in Red Deer at 6:00pm.
