The Olds College Broncos were dominant from start to finish, dispatching The King's University Eagles 79-57 in the regular season finale for both teams at the Ralph Klein Centre on Friday.
Rio Yamazaki led all scorers with 24 points to go with 10 assists and four steals, while Odett Schlegl also picked up a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds for the Broncos (10-11), who solidified a play-in berth with the victory.
For the Eagles (7-13), Player of the Game Ella Majeau led the way with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Megan Aleman added 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and three blocks.
Olds College meant business from the opening tip, jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the game's opening two minutes, eventually building out a 25-12 lead with Yamazaki scoring nine points and 10 from Majeau.
The second quarter was more evenly matched, with the Eagles making a comeback to trim the lead to 38-29 at halftime.
The third quarter saw the Broncos re-establish their dominance, extending their lead as far as 21 before taking a 62-42 lead into the fourth, with Yamazaki again controlling the flow with another nine-point quarter.
The victory means the Broncos will be part of a three-team play-in next weekend at Briercrest, with the Clippers being locked in as the fourth seed.
