Trojans snap 8-game skid with win over Ooks

CALGARY, ALTA., (Feb. 17, 2023) - All it took was a change of venue.

Playing at Edge School just outside of Calgary for the first time this season, the SAIT Trojans women's basketball team ended an 8-game losing streak, beating the NAIT Ooks 64-53 in Friday night Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) action. The slump is the most for SAIT in 30 seasons, matching an 8-game losing streak by the Trojans to end the 1990-91 season.

The University of Calgary's Jack Simpson Gym had been SAIT's home all season, but prior scheduling commitments forced the Trojans to Edge this weekend.

SAIT sees their record move to 9-11, while the Ooks fall to 5-14.

Ava Kearl and Brook Baker each scored 19 points to lead the Trojans. NAIT's Abi Payne led her team with 14 points.

Kearl and Payne were named their team's Players of the Game.

SAIT will drop the curtain on their regular season Saturday afternoon at 1pm when they host the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves - again at Edge School.
