Lightning Silence Thunder

The matchup between the #1 in the south and the #1 in the north started off with both teams hungry to secure the win. The Lightning came out firing and started the game off with a 7 – 0 run. The Thunder answered back and brought the score within two points. The Lighting remained strong and secured the lead to end the first quarter 24 to 17.

The second quarter started with the Thunder coming out strong, trying to regain the lead and momentum of the game. The Lightning were relentless, however, and their aggressive play and defense won the quarter 22 to 13, making the score to end the half 46 to 30 for the Lightning.

At the start of the second half, the Lightning looked to improve upon their 16 point lead against the Thunder. The Thunder played aggressively but were no match on this day for the Lightning. The Lightning ended the quarter with a buzzer beater 3 from half court by #10 Maitlynn Wilde making the score 70 to 52.

The fourth quarter saw similar results to the previous quarters with the Lightning not giving up their lead and working hard to win the game. The battle of the top seeds ended with a win for the Lightning as they silenced the Thunder and improved their record to 16 and 3.
