Lightning Fall to Lethbridge Kodiaks in Close 4th Quarter Match Up

Lightning ladies started the quarter strong but the Kodiaks kept up with their aggressive defensive. The Kodiaks aggressive defensive and controlled offensive play put the Kodiaks up by the end of the first with a 4 point lead over the Lightning. The grit from the Kodiaks continued to start the second quarter and they pulled ahead by 8 points. The Lightning dug deep and with a couple of good defensive plays the Lightning started to close the gap. A couple of three point shots by number 11 Andria Stitt and number 8 Ivet Hidalgo put the Lightning in the lead over the Kodiaks. Both teams adjusted their offensive and defense to come out ahead but the Lightning persevered and ended the half ahead by 7, making the score 37 to 30. The Lightning continued to push to start the third quarter and extended their lead to 10 heading into the fourth quarter. Kodiaks came out firing in the fourth quarter, hitting two quick threes and putting them behind by only four points. The Lightning and Kodiaks continued to battle but an impressive 22 points and big fourth quarter by number 10 Kitawna Sparks helped the Kodiaks take the lead and the game. The Lightning were led by number 3 Jazmyn Kellog who had 20 points. Players of the game for the Lightning were number 8 Ivet Hidaglo with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. The Kodiaks player of the game was number 5 Annah Westrop with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. The Lightning's record falls to 10 – 3. Their next home game is on Friday January 27th against the Medicine Hat Rattlers, tip off at 6pm.
