The St. Mary's University Lightning took care of business on Saturday, defeating the Olds College Broncos 77-62 at the Ralph Klein Centre on Saturday night to sweep a home-and-home between the two sides.
Jazmyn Kellogg led St. Mary's (10-1) with 24 points to go with four rebounds to earn Player of the Game honours for the Lightning, while Maitlynn Wilde completed a double-double of 21 points, 12 rebounds and four assists for the CCAA's eighth-ranked squad.
For the Broncos (5-7), Blu Rose led all scorers with 26 points and six assists, while Meghan Swartz earned Olds College's Player of the Game award with a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The first half was evenly contested on both sides, with the Lightning holding a slim 19-18 edge through the first quarter before seeing the game go to halftime tied 32-32.
However, the Lightning took over late in the third quarter, using a 24-2 run spanning 6:46 between the end of the third and start of the fourth to stretch their lead out to 25, with the margin proving to be insurmountable.
St. Mary's will head south for a doubleheader with the Lethbridge College Kodiaks on Friday and Saturday, while the Broncos will contest a home-and-home with SAIT beginning Friday in Olds, which will also be a Make Some Noise for Mental Health game night at the Ralph Klein Centre.
