Our Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves welcomed the Medicine Hat Rattlers to Grande Prairie on Saturday evening.

NWP gets the first basket as Raylene Badger scores 2 to begin the first quarter. Medicine Hat takes the lead with back-to-back 2 pointers. Makayla Porteous ties the game 4-4. The first time out is called with 6:46 left in the first quarter by NWP. #15 drains 1 free throw shot, taking the lead 7-6. #5 Makayla Porteous drains a 3 with 2 minutes left on the clock, bringing the score to 10-9. Followed by another 3 pointer by #11 Brook Forsyth, bring the score to 13-9. The first period ends with NWP leading 15-9.

The second quarter starts with Rattlers basket by #4 Abrielle Watson. The NWP Wolves gain momentum and score back-to-back 2 pointers, made by Alexandra Wills and Raylene Badger, bringing the game to 20-11. Rattlers #4 Abrielle Watson scores 2 points, bringing the score 24-16. #6 Abby Crown picks up a rebound for the Wolves. Abby Crown gets another 2 points. We end the first half of this exciting game with a score of 28-20.

We begin the third quarter with a basket by Wolves #15. Quickly followed by a 3 pointer by #8 of the Rattlers brining the score to 30-23. #7 for the Rattlers drains 2 free throws, closing the gap to 6. #4 for the Rattlers scores 2 points closing the gap to 3 points which leads to a Wolves timeout called. Medicine Hat takes the lead 38-37. Raylene Badger gets a steal and a breakaway 2 points to retake the lead 39-38. Medicine Hat regains the lead with 2 drained free throws. Raylene Badger finishes the third quarter with 2 points for the wolves. We end the third quarter with NWP in the lead by one point with a score of 42-41.

Fourth quarter action starts with a basket made by Wolves #15 Paige Snyder. Wolves keep the momentum and gain a five-point lead. Medicine hat scores their first basket of the last quarter bringing the score to 43-46. Following a Medicine Hat time out the NWP Wolves push through bringing the score to 48-43. #20 Raylene Badger comes up with a huge basket for NWP, puts the Wolves ahead 50-46. Makayla Porteous shoots and brings the Wolves to a 55-48 lead. Wolves call a time out with an 8-point lead. Fourth quarter ends with a score of 58-51 with the Wolves coming out victorious.
