It was an out of rhythm evening for the Rustlers on Saturday, with an old south division foe in town.
Lakeland hosted the St. Mary's Lightning, who were 3-1 heading into the contest. Both teams couldn't manage large scoring runs, but the Lightning benefited from strong play by their veteran backcourt and lead 40-25 at the half.
The second half saw a more spirited effort, as the Rustlers cut the lead to 9. However, the Lightning stayed in control for the remainder of time, winning 71-55.
Maitlynn Wilde lead all scorers with 22 points, while Andria Stitt (14 points, 6 assists) and Alana Olsen (10 points, 8 rebounds) were the Players of the Game.
Next up for the Rustlers is a road trip to Olds.
