Clippers Shine Versus Broncos

The Clippers started the game passing well and scoring the first 2 baskets. As the quarter continued there was pressure from both teams in the middle of the 1st quarter with neither team making many shots. At the 5-minute mark the score was 11-8 for the Clippers with two free throws, and a side-step two dropped in by #13 Maddie Beattie. To end the first quarter the Olds Broncos pressured the Clippers defensively. To end the 1st quarter the score was 18-15 for the Clippers.

The second quarter started with great pressure from both teams with both teams turning the ball over. Near the middle of the 2nd quarter there was a big push of offense and great passing for the Clippers and they scored 3 times in a row with important baskets scored by #14 Hope Jordens. The score was 30 - 21 for the Clippers with just under 3 mins of play before the half. There was a strong push of offense for the Broncos but they were unable to score any more than 2 points with the strong defense of the Clippers to finish off the 1st half of the game. Score at the end of the 1st half was 32-23 in favor of the Clippers.

The Broncos started the 2nd half of the game with and great passing but they were unable to score. A time out was called in the 3rd quarter by the Broncos. The Broncos were able to cut the 15 point lead by 6. The score with 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter was 45-40 for the Clippers. The quarter ended very fast paced with both teams scoring baskets in the last 2 minutes. The Broncos made some great offensive plays and scored enough to get within one point of the Clippers lead. The score at the end of the 3rd quarter was 47-46 for the Clippers.

The 4th quarter started with Clippers scoring first. The Broncos #5 Amelia Furst made a nice behind the back pass to continue their offensive push to score. Both teams were pushing the pace up and down the floor. With just over 5 minutes of play left in the game the Clippers increased their lead. The score with under 4 mins left to play the game was 60-54 for the Clippers. In the last 2 minutes of the game both teams pushed the ball up and down the court. With just over a min left #9 Dori Sunderland intercepted the ball for the Clippers and sealed the deal for the Clippers. The final score of the game was 65-58.

The players of the game were #5 Amelia Furst for Olds with 12 points, 1 assist, 1 rebound, and 1 steal, and #13 Maddie Beattie for Briercrest with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals.
