Trojans fall to Lightning in regular season finale

CALGARY, ALTA., (Feb. 26, 2022) - The SAIT Trojans women's basketball team dropped their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) regular season finale Saturday afternoon.

Playing inside SAIT's Campus Centre, the Trojans fell 79-52 to the visiting St. Mary's University Lightning in a game that was moved to SAIT's auxilliary gym due to a malfucntion with a basket in the main gym.

SAIT finishes their regular season with a 9-7 mark, while the Lightning capped their year with a 15-1 record.

Maitlynn Wilde led the Lightning with 21 points and nine rebounds, while former Trojan Macyn Morning Bull added 10 points and 12 rebounds.

SAIT was led by Anegor Wol with 22 points.

Seniors Richina Foggo and Morgan Rolfe were honoured after the game for their careers at SAIT.

Morning Bull and Wol were named Players of the Game.

The Trojans, who finished third in the ACAC's South Division will now look towards the playoffs, where they will take on the 6th seeded Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Thursday night. A win there and SAIT will advance to the South Final Four.
