Rattlers Win In Last Home Game

The Briercrest Clippers headed to Medicine Hat to take on the Rattlers in the Rattlers final home game of the season.

The game got off to a quick start with both sides scoring on their first trip down the floor. A few more fast baskets looked to start a high scoring affair but this stalled out quickly. Both teams went cold from the floor and tough defence inside saw nothing working in the paint. Near the end of the frame both sides started to score again as they went into the break with the Rattlers up 15-12.

The second quarter looked almost identical to the first. With an early basket each the teams looked like they were over their scoring woes. It did not last long however as the teams again struggled to find the basket. This along with sloppy passing saw the ball turned over and the score crawling up the board. As the quarter was winding up Medicine Hat was able to keep their slight edge entering the half up 27-23.

The Third quarter started with the Rattlers finally finding their stride offensively. Their regulars started scoring at will and the supporting cast picked up the rest. The Clippers were desperately trying to stick around but were never able to close the gap to anything within reach of the home side. Pulling away further the quarter ended with the Rattlers up 44-37.

As the fourth started the Rattlers once again scored quickly and continued to shut down the clippers on defence. This frustrated Briercrest who continued to struggle and make unforced errors. In the end the Rattlers were able to put the game away early and cruised to a 65-49 victory.

The ACAC Players of the game were Abby Larochelle and Kate Rozdeba from Medicine Hat and Hope Jordens from Briercrest.
