EDMONTON, AB (January 28. 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder started their winter semester Friday night as they welcomed The King's University Eagles. A tight game early, the Eagle's led the second half to pull away and ultimately defeat the Thunder 82-68.
The first quarter opened with both teams playing an exciting and tight first quarter. With a finish of 16-17, Thunder had an exciting back to back 3-pointers by #12 Madison Murdoch.The King's Eagles started the second quarter on fire and outscored Thunder 23-16 in the period to bring the first half 40-32. Thunder fought hard in the second half but the Eagles were again able to ride out the momentum into the third quarter, ending at 63-50. The fourth quarter brought excitement as both teams played a tight game, scoring back to back. Ultimately, having kept their lead from the third quarter, the Eagles took the game 82-68.
The One Team Sports Players of the game were #21 Gaddiel Kamuanya for the King's Eagles and #4 Olivia Armstrong for the Concordia Thunder.
The Thunder continue their season by taking the fight back to King's tomorrow evening. They return to action next weekend, February 4 to play Augustana Vikings.
