Trojans swept by Lightning

CALGARY, ALTA., (Jan. 29, 2022) - The SAIT Trojans women's basketball team were unable to split their weekend set with crosstown rivals, the St. Mary's University Lightning.

Playing their second game in less than 24 hours, the Trojans were beaten 68-58 by the Lightning in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) matinee action at SAIT's Campus Centre. On Friday, St. Mary's dealt SAIT a 108-54 loss.

Since starting the season 6-0, the Trojans have dropped four of their last five to see their record fall to 7-4. The Lightning improved to 9-1.

Kaleigh Sellars was named SAIT's Player of the Game after scoring a team-high 16 points, while teammate Richina Foggo chipped in with 11 points and 16 rebounds.

Ivet Hidalgo led the Lightning with 19 points to earn her team's honour.

The Trojans return to the court next weekend with a home-and-home set against the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens.
