WBB| Kodiaks Increase Win Streak to 7 in Victory Over Briercrest Clippers

The Kodiaks look to have the weekend sweep against the Briercrest Clippers in their two-game weekend showdown.

Briercrest came into the match hot gaining an 11-point lead early on the Kodiaks before the Kodiaks made a run of their own to get back into the game but not quite enough to get back in front as the 1st quarter ends with a 14-11 lead for the Clippers.

Both teams struggled to generate any offense in the quarter keeping the score low. Kodiaks Kirsten Barwegen however picked up 8 points in the quarter to give the Kodiaks the extra boost to get ahead of the Clippers but then Clippers #7 Brooklyn Martens hit a buzzer-beater to give Briercrest the 27-26 lead heading into halftime.

Despite being down heading into the 3rd quarter the Kodiaks found a way to fight back and gain the lead against the Clippers thanks to Kodiaks Matlin Jacobs picking up 9 points in the quarter to give the Kodiaks the 45-44 lead heading into the final quarter.

The Kodiaks kept the momentum heading into the 4th quarter getting 12 straight points 4 of which belonged to Courtney Deemter which gave the Kodiaks some space. Deemter went on to score 5 more points in the quarter giving her 17 on the night playing a crucial role in a 66-54 win over the Clippers to increase the Kodiaks win streak to 7 games.
