Deanna Simpson Named ACAC 2019-20 Women’s South Coach of the Year

Medicine Hat, AB (March 4, 2020) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Deanna Simpson of the Lethbridge College Kodiaks has been named the ACAC Women's South Coach of the Year.

Coach Simpson is in her third year at the helm of the Kodiaks women's basketball program. Following up on her first year of leading the Kodiaks into the ACAC playoffs, Coach Simpson went to work in recruiting a strong core of new and returning student-athletes that have bought into her system. The Kodiaks put on a late surge to earn a playoff spot, which included an upset win over then No#1 Olds College Broncos. 

"Deanna had the tough challenge of changing the culture of the program after taking it over a year ago and putting her mark on it," says Todd Caughlin, Manager of Kodiaks Athletics. "Deanna has stayed the course to her vision and it resulted in back to back berths into the ACAC women's championships. This is a program that is doing it right both off and on the court. We are proud of what she has done and she has represented Kodiaks Athletics with the highest of standards!" 

Deanna Simpson received the award on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020 at the ACAC Women's Basketball Conference Championship Banquet held in Medicine Hat, AB.
