Defensive Effort Carries Thunder To Win Over Wolves

EDMONTON, AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder hosted the Grand Prairie Regional College (GPRC) Wolves Friday night in game one of their weekend series. The Thunder's defensive effort was unbeatable as it carried them to a 74-50 win.

The Thunder started out the game with strong defence as they held the Wolves to only 5 points in the first quarter, coming out of the quarter with a 17-5 lead. The second quarter saw GPRC finally able to crack the stingy defence of the Thunder, but CUE withstood the push back as they maintained their lead heading into the half, 30-21. In the third quarter, the Thunder offence came to life as the Thunder maintained their defensive effort, outscoring the Wolves 27-12 in the quarter to take a 57-33 lead into the fourth quarter. The final period saw a repeat of the third quarter as the Thunder defensive effort held the Wolves back and carried them to a 74-50 win.

The two teams meet again tomorrow afternoon at CUE as the Thunder look for the weekend sweep over the visiting Wolves.

The Kahunaverse Players of the Game were #14 Caitlin Paul for the Wolves and #7 Kaelyn Bryks for the Thunder.
