The Lakeland Rustlers faced The King's University Eagles on Saturday January 25th in the second night of a back to back. The Rustlers were looking for the weekend sweep of the Eagles, while King's was looking to take a game off of Lakeland.
The Rustlers jumped out of the gate, taking a quick 5-0 lead. The Eagles would respond though with a run of their own before finding themselves trailing 18-13 after the first. In the second quarter, the Eagles couldn't cut into the Rustlers lead, which quickly tripled, thanks to sharp shooting and offensive rebounding. At the half, the Rustlers had extended their lead to 43-26. King's would make a push in the third quarter, knocking down several threes of their own, cutting the Rustlers lead to 12. The Eagles would outscore Lakeland in the quarter 18-17, giving Lakeland a 60-44 lead heading into the fourth. Despite the run by the Eagles in the third, the Rustlers were not going to let their first home game of 2020 be a close one, finishing the game with a strong fourth quarter, taking it 84-50.
The win for the Rustlers improves their record on the season to 12-4, while the Eagles drop to 5-11. The player of the game for The King's University Eagles was #15, Brittany Veldman. The player of the game for the Lakeland Rustlers was #10 Jaden Cook.
