WBB | Kodiaks weather the storm in overtime for a comeback victory

January 12, 2019 - The Kodiaks looked to recover from Friday night's loss at St. Mary's University this time in their own territory.

The Kodiaks started out strong in the Val Matteotti gym on Saturday night as they had something to prove in this home and home series against Lightning. Lethbridge appeared to have the lead going into the second quarter however St. Mary's quickly applied the pressure.

Hannah Helton of the Lightning managed to match the Kodiaks score with a three point shot beating the buzzer in the first quarter.

As the game progressed in the second quarter, St. Mary's seemed to have most of the control. Fourth year Juhee Anderson then put matters into her own hands by influencing her teams discipline and effort. Anderson led the Kodiaks with twelve points in the first half.

Tension remained high in quarters three and four as both teams were sinking three's as well as playing aggressive defensive systems. Lightning held their lead by four points to head into the fourth quarter.

The Kodiaks fought hard to keep themselves in the game as they closed the Lightnings lead by tying the score 59-59. As the seconds dwindled down on the clock, the game was forced into a nail biting overtime.
